The vision of a Whole System Approach is to deliver a joined-up, long-lasting response to domestic abuse across the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside.
Our focus is on the needs of survivors and their children, and the creation of safe, effective responses to perpetrators.
Where our story begins
Thanks to funds secured from the Home Office by Northumbria PCC Dame Vera Baird and Northumbria Police, this three year pilot seeks to transform domestic abuse services across the region by giving police, partner agencies and victims the ability to truly deliver lasting change and provide a template for all forces and partnerships across the country to deliver on.
A regional solution
Led by Northumbria, this project brings together forces from Cleveland, Durham, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Humberside. Together, we are developing a comprehensive Violence Against Women and Girls strategy, which includes A Whole System Approach to tackling domestic abuse.
We will deliver the projects side by side with local partners including Women’s Aid, Barnardo’s and Gentoo.
We are championing an integrated approach that delivers:
- Effective working within the criminal justice system
- Partnership work with civil and family courts
- Multi-agency victim support and offender management
